"YEAH BABY"..NEW BOOK by Julian Wolfendale OUT NOW!!!

"What happens when teenage rebellion runs out of steam and one day
you wake up to find yourself someone else, up to your neck in drugs and
guns. It began in 1981 with LU7 Punks. Leighton Buzzard. Safety pins and
Stillettoes. Ended up in Andalucia with Corvettes and Brownings.
Accompanied by all the music of a life."

Julian Wolfendale's long awaited book 'Yeah Baby' is now available from
Lulu.com.

Many regular members of this forum will recall the former working title,
'Damaged Goods' and anyone who downloaded our online newsletter
UKDKToday #1 may have already read a small extract regarding the
infamous Bedford Bunyan Centre riot of 1981.

In Julians own words..
"Before I start lets get something straight.
I have never written anything before and I'm not a writer, and I don't
pretend to be.
This book didn't start out being about me, it started off being about
someone else, whom many of you will recognise, but as it was me
writing it ,it ended up being mostly about me.

It began on a Spanish hillside, watching the sun come up. Sitting with
an old friend who had just told me he was dying. We'd come a long way
since the LU7 Punks. How did we end up here ? We spoke about the old
days and our lives since.
"You couldn't write it could ya"
It was a throwaway comment. Didn't mean anything. I said that I
reckoned I could write it actually.

"Write it then. Change some names and stuff"
He didn't want people to forget him. I haven't.
So I have written it. I have changed some names. Most of it's as it was.
Some of it is allegorical and some of it is plain made up."

'Yeah Baby'is amust read for all those that grew up in the
hazy days of the early UK 1980's post-punk scene and then progressed
on to the early UK free party-scene later in that decade. By the 1990's
and into this century the story ends up via Holland and Goa, to the sleazy
Costa Del Sol and the Brit ex pat underworld.
Julian and his late friend were two such of life's colourful adventurers;
the tale is woven with both fact and fiction in an invigorating stylish way.
One of the key linking features and one that will want to make one reach
for the old poppadom collection, is the way Julian recalls his experiences
with the soundtrack of the time.

I can see the soundtrack of the book-the movie, selling quite well!

The book retails for £9.99 plus shipping from LULU.COM
and you can buy it here

FEEDBACK

It would be nice to leave Julian some feedback for his book as he has
put so much effort into it. You can do that here,
or on the LULU.COM page but you might have to register and log on to do it.

Hey Dahei, thanks for that.
As for the reporter, i phoned him and said that as i don't have a single copy of my book he would have to purchase one to read it - it's printed to order. I'm not sure how that went down, though he seemed a nice guy, but i haven't heard back. Mind you if he did buy one, i'm not sure how a review of it might fit in the local paper - it's not exactly janet & john learner book 1........ x

Jay, I saw that you can order your book at lulu.com for 9.99. Do you think I would be able to order it from here in America and they ship it to me (if I pay of course). Or would would it just be better to have my mum get it since shes still in England and have her send it to me? Tracey

Hello Tracey,
Lulu.com are in fact an american company, when i spoke to their help centre during the publishing fun, it was, i believe, in Michigan. They seem to print in the uk for uk orders, but i would think they would print in the states for orders over there. Should you buy it, thankyou in advance, but it would be great if you could log bak onto lulu afterwards and post a review, saying what you think. I'm lucky that i don't have to make a living from it but i am interested in what people think of it.......J x.
