One day, shortly after the Grapevine shut, Daize and me were strolling around the Arndale, waiting for the pubs to open (you youngsters have got it all!) when this Northern bloke came up to us and asked where the punks drank in Luton. That was Southport Steve, we took him to the Baron of Beef, and the rest is history..... Anybody in touch with him now? |
Roger, your geography is spot on, as is your memory... I was that Northern Bloke and am alive and well and living in Brighton... 28 years on...I guess you must have got over the Lurkers splitting up by now... |

hey, Blink, how you doing matey ? yup, its me, still alive and kicking after all these years. You're back in Bedford I gather ? I've done a fair bit of travelling since the old days, but I've settled down to spend my old age by the sea in sunny Brighton. You're still gigging ? Man, thats dedication. |

John Bliss: LU7 px. (middle of pic)
I have forgotten what year this was taken but thanks again to Bone for
sending this one in.
This is John Bliss of the LU7 (Leighton Buzzard= LU7 being the post code)
punks (PX), at work (who said punks had to be out-of-work-bums!)
actually, John had by this time cast-away-his-leather and joined the
conveyor belt of society! Maybe? or maybe not!

I believe John said this was christmas 1981. As far as getting on the "conveyor belt of society" I'm not so sure, I think he and Steve Cott just prefered to persue their favorite passtimes of money , cars and girls. |
