It's been a long time since I didnt enter the forums, there's lots of new stuff to read.
I am too eagerly waiting for the CD releases. Not sure if I'll be able to get them here in Argentina though.

Hopefully with a semi-reformed band and Abbo seemingly willing to be on board, this can become a reality soon. Cherry Red put out Furyo, so why not Decay as well?

Sooooo...

Given the recent flurry of activity, and the fact that the band seem to at least semi-reformed as a semi-going concern, any updates?

It'd be great to have re-mastered, crystal clear versions of all the singles, the tape and the album. (And hey, let's not forget the Peel session while we're at it) I've transferred all my old vinyl to CD-R so I can still listen to them, but twenty-five to thirty years later, there's clicks, hisses and scratches galore. And if you're worried about the price of it, like Abbo said in "Punk Lives" Issue 1 release it yourself - it'll be fifteen pence cheaper...

UK Decay: For Madmen Only CD Album: Announcement soon!

Fingers crossed, the long wait for the bands back catalogue becoming
available on CD, may soon be over.

It was hoped that the 'For Madmen Only' Album might be available for
the recent come back show, the will was there, the whole band was
behind it, but the time it would take to actually get it together wasn't.

However the band are now in the process of reconciling and editing the
tapes in order for a possible future release. It seems the format
considered may have changed from the previous planned simple updating
of the vinyl's.
But exactly as to what the new release might entail, we shall have to
await the bands forthcoming announcement.

Having heard snippets of some of the old tracks remastered, I can assure
Mr. M.C.Kenna666m and anyone else that may be wondering that audio
quality-wise, that the sound I heard is indeed crystal clear and glorious!
In fact so good that it may arguably be hard for the purists, used to
scratchy vinyl and hissy tapes, to get their ears around!
Apparently the band are taking this possible concern seriously and are
to reprogram into the mastering, vinyl crackle and tape hiss to give it a
genuine 'Classic' touch.
However, could this just be a reaction to a recent point made by
a veteran fan of the band who made these concerns?
Most probably, it was a point made in jest!
Seriously, the quality is really good and we think people, older and
newer generations, should be given the opportunity to hear UK Decay's
music, at the best quality possible.

Any thoughts would be really useful at this current time, over the next
couple of weeks, the material is to be remastered and I think the band
would take on board any considered serious opinions on as to whether
the music should have the 'Classic' (crackles, hiss, quieter, duller but
possibly more analoge)
or 'Contemporary' ( Clear, bright, dynamic or like most of todays music
- arguably; digital) sound.
If so, please let us know, post reply below

Cheers!

W.W.

That's fantastic news, Werewolf!

Will it be self released, or on an established label?

Hey, wonderful news! Very Happy "More than just a simple updating of the vinyls" ... what might that be? Sounds like there's definitely something special in store.

As for the sound, I'm not much of a traditionalist or arch-purist - it is 2008, after all! I vote for quality - the originals were pretty murky and dense, and if I wanted to hear the same I'd just listen to a vinyl rip (or the original vinyl, even). They're great songs, so let's hear them in all their shiny sparking glory!
