UK Decay, Bauhaus & The Zero's 1st February 1980, poster!

Big thanks to Bone for this poster depicting this legendary gig at Luton
Tech College (Now University of Beds) on Friday the 1st of February,
1980.

On that night Luton's UK Decay and Northampton's Bauhaus & The Zero's
played the return leg of a 'swap gig' that was arranged several months
earlier. The first 'leg' involved UK Decay and PneuMania, both making
their out of Luton debuts, at Northampton's Racecourse Pavillion.

The poster interestingly has a handful of other UK Decay dates
added in handwriting and is bordered with the Black 45 EP sticker that
seemed to get everywhere at that time.

In a way the show proved to be a great moshing of the post punk tribal
style fiefdom's of Luton and Northampton, both towns pitching in their
flagship bands. Bauhaus were just beginning to make noises with their
Bela Lugosi is Dead and UK Decay's Black 45 had just been released.
Yes there was the usual-for-that-time punch-up, but for the numbers of
attendees that were lucky enough to be there, it was truly great night.

That evening the world moved for some..the darkness lit the night
....new possibilities were around the corner!

'Anom' also sent this one in, an advert for the 'For Madmen Only' album.

Many thanks to 'Fish' and 'Anom' for sending in these pics.

The late great Steve Harle as many would remember him from that period.

Steve Marriotts photo collection of the UK Decay outing to Berlin in early
1980.
There are more of Steve Marriott's shots here
(70 - 78 in the 'Classic UK Decay Gallery')

Nice one Steve for sending in these!

Gallery Update August 2011

It's been a while since we updated the gallery news, so here we are!

I have just completed the mammoth task of removing tens of thousands
of vermin adverts (s. p. a.m.) that have infested the picture galleries over
the last year. They nest themselves in the 'comments' below each picture.
Some pictures alone have accrued thousands of these dam pests, making
the gallery experience slow, cumbersome and worse - they are totally
inappropriate - sometimes advertising dodgy and sick websites!
There are thousands of pictures in the gallery making it very difficult to
keep on top of checking every picture on a regular basis. So if you spot
any such 'bad' adverts, please let me know which gallery you spotted it
and I will have it removed.
Sadly and inadvertently, there have been a very small amount of genuine
comments accidentally removed in this process. Apologies if you can't find your
comment, I am afraid you will have to re-post if important.

FACEBOOK

A number of folk have suggested we remind our ukdecay
communities friends by sharing links to the various galleries.
This we shall be doing in the near future, so keep a look out.
We shall be using the www.facebook.com/ukdecay page
(UKDECAY COMMUNITIES) and NOT the UK Decay Fan page!

(which is..... www.facebook.com/ukdecays )
