It was so good to wake up on Saturday morning with the evenings excitement ahead of me, and to be honest, it didn’t disappoint in the slightest. As usual, the day dragged somewhat, but the usual setting-up duties took care of that. The club was pretty ready to go from 8pm, yet with still l2 hours to wait, you could feel the atmosphere was very electric from the beginning, and it just kept on getting better.

So, I spent a brilliant event catching up with old friends, almost to the point it was annoying to go and DJ at points or spending time taking pictures. In fact, we could have done with a few more hours in the end. Within the first hour, we’d already topped the 100 mark, and the night just kept on getting busier.

It certainly didn’t matter if people had never attended any of the old Switch nights, (especially as most of what’s left of the Coven hardcore element hadn’t been born by the time the club had closed!) as I found the music played to be pretty near perfect from start to finish, combining a great selection of past great ‘Switch' classics that have stayed with me since the my teenage years and certainly stayed the test of time for me.

Also on a personal note, it was extremely satisfying to finish my ‘time’ behind the decks celebrating in tribute to such a great club and to bow out of the scene as (dis)gracefully on such a high. I doubt this will be the end by any means, but for the meantime, I’ll be disappearing into the ether for the foreseeable future, so keep watching the skies!

So, thanks to all that supported the night and made it such a pleasure to play, CovenAlex and our guest DJ Nick Switch, Javier and Adam for stepping in at the last minute to man the photography duties, ‘roadie’ duties Pete and Kerry, and all the long suffering Hat Factory staff.

I’d like to wish you all the best of luck to everybody for the future.
