'PneuMania'

Anyone remmember 'PneuMania', Luton band from 1980ish?

Famous for their apearrance on 'The Split Single' with steve spon who left to join UK Decay. But 'Pneumania' reformed with a new line-up and carried on for a couple of years in the early Eighties.

Well if anyone Has got any info or perhaps was in the band, please click the 'Post Reply' button and post a message on this thread!

It would also be great to hear from you!

More to follow!

If you click the Lyrics at the bottom of the page 'Exhibition' should load up and play in Windows Media Player.

The Page is still under construction!

Captain (The Ancient Mariner)
Where the flying f. is "steve the voice"???
I heard an old rehearsal tape from the wellington street basement and I never realised at the time, what a solid base line he could bash out!

the Captain and Gaynor (Sno White)

Just dug out this old photo from 1989

Dont get the wrong idea about this one!
They were very good freinds!
By 1989 Gaynor ( Sno White from Pneumania ) had been living in Cardif for at least 3 or 4 years
and in this pic, she was making a return visit to see her old pals in
Luton!
Anyone out there got a contact for Gaynor?
The 'Captain' is still living in Luton, not a million miles from this website!

Pneumania formally known as ‘Snow White and the sic Punks’, were formed early in 1979 in Luton UK by founding members and nihilists, Steve Spon and The Captain (not Sensible!). They had just converted a basement in a soon to be demolished terraced house in Luton, into a rehearsal room and went on a hunt for a Vocalist and Bass player......Go there now!

The first part of the Biog is now online.

'Exhibition' and 'Coming attack' were the only 2 songs released by
Pneumania ( at least by the first line-up). Shortlly after releasing theses
two songs which were on the 'Split single' ( along with UK Decay ),
Spon left to join UK Decay. Gaynor ( sno-white) and Nigel dark also
left the band leaving 'Steve the Voice' to create 'Pneumania-2', which
he acheived with a new line-up.
We are investigating some old tapes ( that are in very bad condition!) in
view of restoration and if we can get something out of it you will hear about
it here first!!
these tapes are of the 'classic line-up' ( the same as the 'Split Single'),
but it is not known if there are any tapes of the second line-up
( Pneumania-2).
.if anyone has any info on that second line-up, which included Steve the voice,
Dave Siddley, Elayne O'brian, and Pete ??.....please let us know

The captain is still with us under a new 'guise' as mentioned elsewhere
"not a million miles from this forum"
Sadlly the late great Geronimo Geoff passed away in 1999

He was a maverick and colourfull figure in the Luton Punk scene in the late70's
and early80's and came from an established Luton musical familly.

On this website soon we shall be devoting a tribute to 'Geromino Geoff'
(as he was known then)

Hi,

I saw Pneumania supporting UK decay at Bowes Lyon House in Stevenage (april 1980 I think). If anyone knows the exact date could you please drop me a line - cheers.

On the subject of that gig, I did sneak my tape recorder in & recorded Pneumania. Obviously the sound quality isn't great, but from what I can remember you can hear the vocals reasonably clearly.

If there are any of you out there that would like a copy (on CD), lasts 35-40 minutes, I'm more than willing to dig out the old cassette & transfer it (for the cost of a disk & postage)
