UK Decay Communities Admin Announcement
Yesterday, Wednesday 15th February 2006. The server was ‘down’
The entire website was rolled back to the last back-up point which
apparently was Sunday 12th February. This may have led to the loss
of a couple of posts, we humbly apologise for that, but where possible
we have now completely updated the site, forums and galleries to their
previous status.
Many thanks to ‘SDZ’ and the server team for keeping this fantastic
resource online!
And of course mucho thanks to all of you out there who use these
facilities, day in and out. Together we make this resource what it is,
we now have a Google rating of 4 out of ten. not bad considering.
( If you have a ‘Google’ toolbar check-out your favourite sites rating)
The inclusion of the ‘Myspace’ portal has now increased our daily
‘Real-individual’ Hits to over 200 a day.
So lets ‘fasten our seat belts’ and enjoy the ride!

Problem with avatars
A problem has come to notice regarding
uploading 'Avatars' (those daft little pictures
under various members names on the left
in the post pages!: ie the 'bad werewolf' pic
below werewolf to the left here)
The upload button appears to be missing
thus disabling the users in their profile pages
from uploading the new avatar.
It is recomended that members DO NOT
attempt to modify their current avatar
(If you have one and delete it, you will not be
able to replace it- using the upload method)
We shall be seeking a 'fix' for this problem
and will keep you informed of any developements.
It is still possible to use the 'Link to off-site Avatar'
to enable an Avatar. That means in a similar fashion
to blogging sites they already have to exist on a URL
address somewhere,,,the address gets pasted in the
appropriate 'Link to off-site Avatar' box.
If you are desperate lol to get your Avatar online
please 'PM' me.

Updates to the 'Home page'
Sun 20th August 2006
The 'masthead' area of the UK DK home page has undergone
some changes of late!
"Search"
First on the left of the above image (on the bottom left corner) is a new
'search' link. This will pop up a UK Decay google-search window
Using this search function should yeild better results than the sites own
forum 'search' function, especially if you add "uk decay" to your question
in the search bar!
This search is replicated on the bottom of the Home page.
"Battle of the Elements"
(Flash player/DSL required)
Clicking the "Battle of the Elements" image in the centre of the mast-head
will pop up a new window which should star playing "Battle of the Elements" 2006 within moments!
The 3rd change is is on the right of the 'mast-head',
titled "UK Decay Communities Quck Tour Guide", clicking this link
will pop up a new window
This is a new concept that can viewed as a 'starting off' place perhaps
for newcomers to the website familiar with the 'blogging' style.
Designed to give a 'thumbnail view of the website and it's latest updates!
You can use the scrollbar to scroll-down and read through the details
which contain news and gossip and other 'quick links' to other usefull
areas of the site.
The links will open up in new windows and there is a link at the bottom
that will close the window of the 'guide-box'.
Any feedback will be welcome!

New Gallery navigation System
This image which can be found on the left part of the main UK Decay
webpages including the 'Home' page, is the new navigation panel.
Simply wave your mouse over it and the usual navigation menu will
appear. In addition to the main catagories, new sub-menu's will now show.
Any problems or comments, please don't hesitate to give us a shout.
Tip!
Run the mouse gently up from the bottom upwards, the sub-menu's
will be easier to deal with.
The previous 'flash nav panels' will gradually be phased out on the
inner parts of the web pages. The previous system led to the same panel
often being duplicated on the same page! This is part of an 'on-going'
proccess to re-vamp and trim down the size hence download time
of the UK Decay Communities website.
The 'Left slide bar' frame, has also been re-vamped on most pages,
with a host of 'affiliate links'. Try scrolling the bar down, there is a
featured local links area which includes links to the new Click Click
website alongside The Friction and The Jets.
The 'V.B.A.H' is a website that has information about the current
local (Luton) music scene.
Please if you experience any 'teething problems' or have any comments
please let us know, we value your feedback

|
|
New UK Decay PRESS Page!!
take a look at our new Press page!
Along with the steady redevelopment of the website, the 'Press'
page-section has been upgraded. The original text transcribed
archive remains as it was previously but the main 'Press' page
has now opened up to include a 1000 word text background,
detailing a brief chronological history of UK Decay's 'love-hate'
relationship with the music press. Also included are links to some
of the major scanned articles in the relevant galleries.
The mainframe flash navigation has now disappeared from the old
version, as this is unnecessary with the recent augmentation of the
new navigation system.
The frames have now been locked so as to prevent the individual
frames opening without their siblings, therefore- in other word's,
the left slide bar will always be visible; and this of course contains
the new navigation panel! In layman's terms...this will make the page
much more accessible and logical to use.
Some of the articles featured include:-
"The Rot Sets In" (article 2) Sounds..Steve Keaton
"The Last Decayed" Sounds? .. Johnny Waller
"UK Decay-A breif History" Spiral Scratch .. Mark Carroll
"UK-Decay" 1st? Zig Zag .. Mick Mercer
"UK-Decay -For Madmen Only" 2nd?? Zig Zag
and the infamous...
"NME singles review" Charles Shaar Murray and Danny Baker
"Luton and Burning" New Musical Express ... Richard North
"The Face of Punk Gothique" Sounds .. Steve Keaton
and much more!
There is also a small section on some of the recent articles that
have appeared in various publications and of course a brief mention
on our very own 'UK DK Today' webzine!
Any feedback would be more than welcome, particularly on the
Sunday Times story, as this press footage is something we have been
after for some time.
There are two further articles that Ella Joe text transcribed before
her recent mission to research her work with the Tarot in the
middle east that will be posted up shortly.
All in all, we hope that this new page will be a positive improvement
in your enjoyment of the 'Ultimate UK Decay Web Resource'!

Server outage! getting back to normal!
Offline on Sunday 12th November - 16th
Welcome back everybody!
As most regular users will be aware, UK Decay Communities
has been down for the last few days. We are not sure what the
reason was for this, perhaps it may come to light later.
But it seems that the USA based server that SDZ (our web host's) used,
had completely disappeared! It was as if it had vanished
into the 'aether'!
Luckily James from SDZ had just finished backing up the whole
server hub the day before it went off line! That was the good news!
SDZ hosts over 20 different websites as well as us, so a lot of
folk were, as it turns out, disappointed to see the 'website not found',
message appearing when trying to log-on.
As you can read, we are now back up and running again albeit for the
time being, minus the Gallery's. They will make their reappearance over
the coming weekend, with a freshly updated version of the Gallery
software! In addition this forum software (PhpBB) has been upgraded
to the latest version, its good to keep up with the latest software
versions, as anyone with a PC knows full well!
We are not sure at this point what the implications are for potential
bugs and broken links, but even if that is the case we can deal with
them when they become apparent. Also the FTP has yet to be sorted,
meaning we can’t yet access to edit or update the front page, this will
in due course, be resolved
There may be one or two posts missing in the forum, that went up on the
Saturday, we are sorry but they are gone forever, but everything else up to
early on that day should still be there. Late on Saturday night for instance,
I had written an upbeat-update for the “Class of 1979 – 1989 Reunion II”
January 27th 2007 post, that is gone so I will rewrite that within the next
couple of days
I would like to take my hat off yet again to James and the rest of the
SDZ team, for their tireless effort in keeping us, up and running!
It would be easy to simply walk away and say “Fuck it!”
So James and SDZ; “Maximum respect and thanks again from all of us”
W.W.

March 21st 2007 update!
Jeez it's been a little quiet here of late,
I guess an extended recovery period after the tumultous
January the 27th 'Class of 79-89 Reunion' was in order!
So having returned from a ten day trip to foreign climes
(Benelmadena, Espagne!) and a mountain of emails and
corrospondance's to deal with, it;s time to get the show
back on the road.
UK Decay Communities is now three years old!
We have now entered our 4th year since the site kicked
of, March 2004. What have we acheived?
Our original aims were to '"See the re release on CD of
UK Decay's back catalouge", "To re-unite the tribes and friends"
and to "tell the real story of UK Decay"
Since the initial mandate several other areas have been added.
The UK Decay Community galleries now house over 1000 pictures
and are growing all the time.
They include not only photo's, Press, Flyers Fanzines etc. of
UK Decay, but also contain pics many other Luton/Home Counties
area punk bands, from the late 70's to the late 80's.
The ever popular 'Faces Gallery' has hundreds of pics of 'Faces'
(Friends Punks-folk as they were back in the day)
The two UK Decay party events both have their own galleries.
and much more!
UK Decay on CD/release
The saga of the 'Getting UK Decay's back catalouge re-released'
is unfortunately still ongoing, however as a website, we have
delivered two exclusively available to members CD albums to date!
'NIGHTS for CELEBRATION' and 'DEATH SO FATAL'
The NFC CD came out late in 2004 and was limited to 125 copies
(Now sold out!)
'DSF' is still expected to be available in the short term
(Check the signature at the bottom of this post for details)
UK Decay Merchandise
We have had a number of T-Shirt runs from old classical UK Decay
designs. These have to be done in batches, usually twice a year.
So regular visitors who keep an eye on the site can obtain their
exclusive shirts when they are available.
Currently, we are inbetween batches, however with the spring and
summer on the horizon, we shall post up news of a new batch soon.
note.. there are a small number of shirts, particularly of the 'Class of
79-89 Reunion' special left. I will put up details soon for those who
may be interested
UK Decay reunion?
Well, who would have thought the band would get together again
(albeit for one song only!). Since January's event, there has been talk
of more to come and indeed offers to play some very prestiges events!
We shall have to wait and see, but be sure if anything happens, it
will be here on UK Decay Communities Ultimate Web Resourse
that you will find out about it first!
Ok That's it for now!
I will be posting up some more pics up in the next few days and when
the chance arrises, updating some of the webfront.
Also watch out for the T-Shirt news mentioned earlier if you are
interested!
