A vague memory of ex-UKDKers playing a gig as Anarchist Formation Dance Team. Or was this somebody else? Great name for a band anyway - it comes from Herman Hesse's 'Steppenwolf' novel, as does 'For Madmen Only'. |

When The Friction fell apart Mark White and me carried on as the Anarchist Formation Dance Team. We did a couple of gigs in Luton (at the Blockers) and some in London. We were March 82 Honey magazine's band of the month! Initially it was just bass, vocals, drum machine and sound effects, then Colin Salmon re-joined on drums. After I while I couldn't be bothered going down to London twice a week for rehearsals, so left. AFDT carried on for a while - eventually turning into a 6 piece PFurs type effort.
After they split I started using the name (and still do) for my "solo" stuff. I got the name from a caption under a picture of Ari Up of The Slits in the NME. |
