Spon old chap, just for the sake of clarification, what are the release plans?

Is the 'Nights For Celebration' going to come out as an official CD (with or without the St Albans tracks)?

And what other CDs do you wish to see? I realise nothng is probably concrete and ironed out yet, but what do you hope will emerge and, roughly, when?

I have just reviewed the CD on my journal and people are bound to ask what might follow?

Reply to Mick Mercer's questions

Spon old chap, just for the sake of clarification, what are the release plans?

Ok Mick, The plan is to re-release ‘For Madmen Only’ and
‘Rising From the Dread’ together combined with maybe one or two
Rare recordings and the odd singles track, creating a new Album CD
The provisional working title for this project is ‘UK Decay-Alive and Undead’
This title may of course change by the time it’s released.

There are currently no plans to release 'Nights For Celebration' in any
other form that is currently available. I won’t put it beyond the bounds
of possibility that it won’t resurface one way or another or perhaps
elements of it, in the future, but certainly not in the near future.
We have been pleased and heartened by the response we have had
from our website presentation of ‘NFC’. Which by the way has raised
some necessary funding that we need to both keep the website going
and to fund the lengthy negotiations, that all cost money in our overall
aim of getting UK Decay re-released properly.

And what other CDs do you wish to see? I realise nothing is probably
concrete and ironed out yet, but what do you hope will emerge and,

We are hoping the ‘UK Decay-Alive and Undead’ Album project will be
released, certainly this year 2005, hopefully by this Summer but if it
gets later than that I would think perhaps somewhere around October
28th. We had hoped for a May release but that looks unlikely now, things
are just not that quick or easy!

We are looking at other possible CD presentation ideas, since we started
the website last year, we have been staggered by the amount of UK
Decay Live tapes that have been in circulation all these years, over
20 at the last count. There are also the 2 John Peel sessions as well
as the singles repertoires. So in theory yes, there is potentially more
audio material that could be inclusive, in a new project but again the
only certain plan that we have for this year will be the ‘UK Decay-Alive
and Undead’ project, that is the main one.

Also we are starting to obtain video footage and are trying to track
down certain individuals in view of obtaining the master tapes that
could lead to a potential DVD presentation, but that is a lot further
of yet.

I have just reviewed the CD on my journal and people are bound to
ask what might follow?

Yes thanks for that Mick, your Journal and your reputation are widespread
and are read by many!
I recall you saying last year when the website first started that the main
question folk would want to know the answer to, would be,
“When is UK Decay going to be re-released”?
Well from what you have seen and the questions I have just answered,
hopefully I have made our position a bit clearer.

What follows?

Besides the above mentioned points, who knows, I have found myself
being asked some other pertinent question,“When is UK Decay going to
reform”? Or “When are you going to pick up that guitar again Spon”?,
‘If I had a Pound every time that question was asked, I would be a
rich man’! It may be joked about but I can state that the reformation
of UK Decay is currently, definitely not on the cards. UK Decay was the
embodiment of the 3 or 4 individuals that comprised the band! We
certainly in retrospect had a kind of call it ‘Telepathy’,’ Empathy’ or
whatever between each other in our sound that in honesty, none of us
really managed to recapture in our subsequent incarnations.
Although Abbo and Eddie (and indeed ‘Seggy’) are still around, sadly
in my focus there is no way I could visualise UK Decay without the late
Steve Harle. Together we had a special ‘Magick’ that seemed to emanate
in our youthful exuberance from some sort of,
I will put it this way, universal current or dimension’, recapturing that
would be like winning the lottery!
But you never Know!

Hi Steve,
Delighted to hear about UK Decay after all this time. Have been searching on and off for years.
What is everyone (or at least those of us still with us) up to now now? Last I heard Abbo was running Big Cat Records.
Any chance of a reunion. Would love to get my belt out again and swing it one last time!
Am also even more pleased to see UK Decay material is at last going to be available on CD after all this time.
Am interested in both a personal and profesiional capacity as I am a music journalist attached to various publications in east London/Essex and would love to review the CDs in Review Monthly etc when avaialble.
I know there is still a lot of interest out there.
Keep me posted on all levels.
Welcome back!
