King of Chav, Mr.Michael Carroll is down to his last million so
reports lead us to believe. so he has blown 8 mill in a couple
of years!

It is said that he actuall plays up to that title and wears his 'asbo's'
and prison sentences like the fake gold and burberry synonymous
with the species.

Anyway if he is wise his last mill should be earning him a nice little
stipend in interest whilst he abides at 'her majesty's pleasure'!

Seriously though, many of our kids I dare say we could label as
'Chav' but I bet most would deny this if asked.

Chav is just one of the many incantations of 'youth culture' that are
prevelent here in the UK today. See early article with links to

You might argue about the similarities and non-similarities between the
Punks of 25 years ago and the Chav's of today.
Punk aspired for anarchy and DIY culture and was 'anti' established
fashion (although ironically this in itself led to new fashions) . Punks were
often victimised by other and generally older groups , but their
movement in the end prevailed and led to a massive earthquake in
the music business with hosts of spin-off movements (ie 'Goth')

On the other hand I cant see what 'Chav' has to offer the world,
if Michael Carroll is Chav's 'Johnny Rotten' then God help us!
I just don't see any iminent world changing new musical breakthrough
originating from Chav. I might be wrong of course, no longer being
a streetwise teenager. I suspect that 'Chav' is a manufactured
movement and it was created with a sense of humour.

What we got to take into consideration though is the fact that Chav's
are Human Beings, christ probably our own kids! Put a label on
someone or a group and it becomes easier to de-humanise them,
the first steps to darker happenings start with this.

Anyway a new kid has arrived on the block,. the 'EMO Kid' !
this time an import from the US, the 'emotional kid'

Well it is true chav's do contribute to English culture and Michael Carroll has brought out a record with him singing on it, apprently its a love song to his girlfriend bless him, I hope he goes on to be a big rock star.
