Live From Luton post 7/7

Observing the 2 minute silence in honour & respect
for the London bombing victims.

Ok here we are, post the dreadful events of 7/7.
Fingers are pointing at Luton again our town it seems
is a ‘hot bed’of terrorism, not for the first time!

It used to be common knowledge within the town that during the
IRA bombing campaigns of the 70’s & 80’s, you could at least ‘feel
safe’ from ‘terrorist’ bombs within the town itself as there was a
large Irish community living in the town.
The same can be said today with Luton’s 25 thousand Muslim
community, living up to now in relative harmony with Luton’s
other 155 thousand of varied multicultural mix.

Luton like London has now over 200 nationalities making it one of
the UK’s top multicultural centres outside the capital. We are proud
of this community, which is not without it’s problems of course, but
this town has had a long history of integration and tolerance The
Luton Carnival is a celebration of the different communities in the
town and now is one of Europe’s largest.
Manufacturing industry such as Vauxhall, Skefko, Electrolux ,Kents
etc have since the first world war attracted migrants first of all from
within other parts of the UK then from all over the world. Many have
settled down and made the town their permanent home; others have
been able to use the town as a ‘springboard’ to move on.

Despite Luton’s fearsome mythological reputation as ‘Crap Town’
league leaders and the image that outsiders view Luton as being
situated somewhere between “Hell and Purgatory”, the generally
good community relations and fusions that exist within the town
prevail and many pioneering role models, inspirations and ideas
are taken on board by the rest of the UK.
Indeed Luton as the nation sees it has its finger firmly on the
multicultural mix!
So we reflect in the two-minute silence observed today in
remembrance of the 7/7 London bombing atrocities, the whole
issue of this multicultural society is now being put to test and
we are all in the thick of it!

If we are all going to pull through this tragedy it has to start
with each and every one of us, we will have to reflect on ourselves
and our fears and try to understand them and each other, so that
we can each overcome the fears perpetuated by extremist reaction
at all ends of the scale!

We also have to look at the root causes for the discontent that led
to the build up of such anger that it manifests in such ways.

All our thoughts and sympathies must go out to the victims and their
families of the London bombings but not stop there! Every day in Iraq,
Afghanistan, the Middle East and fact all over the world, people, kids
ordinary folk are dying both at the hands of ‘Terrorists’ as well as the
‘State armed forces’, all for the sake of greed and power.


We need to make Extremism and Warfare as well as Poverty, of
whatever form, history!

Well fuck them and fuck what they believe in. They don't want MULTICULTURALITY< they want DOMINANCE and you and we at there feet pleading for our lives. I say NEVER> Never surrender.
