thanks Mick!
It would be real nice to know what material there is out there. So I guess we will have to wait to see what turns up. We will be getting in touch with Bentley in due course I will give you a shout if we have any problems.

One other thing, do you remember (tom) 'Vague' magazine? I have just found 'issue 12' of the fanzine, featuring 'Theatre of Hate', 'Danse Society', 'Killing Joke' and an interview with UK Decay! I want to reproduce the interview but thinking about it, I should really ask permission to put it online!

many thanks for your help and support by the way!

Will speak to you later

When I find my address book, which always seem to vanish when most needed, I will send you Tom's address. He still lives in Ladroke Grove.

On the bootleg front, do you know a Matthew Hudson?

Anyway, there are 2 Pelel sessions, no? (22 April 1980, Peel Session:
For My Country, Sexual, Rising from the Dead, Unwind. 22 July 1981, Peel Session: Shattered, Stage Struck, Duel, Last in the House of Flames) Might be possible to clear permission?

I thini I have a ZigZag Club tape somewhere, and there's definitely a Brighton 13 July 1982 in existence (Shattered, Unexpected Guest, Jerusalem Over (The White Cliffs of Dover), Rising from the Dead, Mayday Malady, Twist in the Tail, Testament, Sexual, Black Cat, Unwind, Stage Struck, Dresden)

And there must be tons more out there.

Yes the above is correct, although in the early nineties John Peel on behalf of a company whos name i have forgoten, wanted to buy the rights to one or more of the sessions in order to release them!

Spon cannot recall wether the band actually signed the rights over, or not! sad state of affairs! The product never materialised so maybe the band didnt sign the contract after all! If thats the case presumablly the Beeb still has the rights, but its been a long time.

yes both classic memorable gigs!! there is some footage from the 'Zig Zag' club gig on the 'werewolf' video

more to come on that soon!

Thanx for the 'articles' ..made interesting reading! can we post them up on the website?

Well, Matthew was a big fan and has some great stuff, and he says he's going to contact you about it.

Of coruse you can ost the reviews up.

On the Peel front, I think that the Strange Fruit lot had an exclusive deal to do the BBC releases (and have re-released an Ants one recently), and didn't end up doing too many after a few years, so you should be able to deal with the Beeb and get a release out if you want.

And if you get it sorted why not offer CD-Rs of whatever livce materiual comes to hand. People know what quality to expect.

'Strange Fruit' records
That was it! We will look into Strangefruit, it is still not known wether or not any contract was signed but at least it is something that can be chased up! Cheers!
Been in touch with Matt. re CDR's that is ongoing!
We will be looking at what we get in, in view of what we do with it!

The 'Press' reviews are now up on the website and we will be adding to the articles you supplied.
Thank you very much again!

Found Two UK Decay live tapes!

After a 'Trawl' thru some of the archives and we aint finished yet
we have come across 2 live tapes of UK Decay concerts.

Imediately on playing them back we recorded them into the PC!
Unfortunately the quality is not so good on the 'Preston Wharehouse' tape which is a real shame because there are a couple of 'rare' tunes, 'Car Crash' and 'Black Arts' of which the band only played a couple of times on the 'Dead Kennedys' tour of 1980.
To have got anything at all from a 23 year old cassette is remarkable.
We will see what we can do in the 'Audio Cleaning up area'
The Audio is a tad 'crumblly' if we can get round the 'dropouts' we will keep you imformed.

The other tape is from the 'Retford Portahouse' which we place aprox. late 1982. This tape is of much better Audio quality but sadlly for us, the Mix/Performance is not that cool! However, again it was recorded directly into the PC so you never know!

We will do our best but you never know, there may be someone out there that specialises in 'Audio Archeology' and restoration that can do a decent job but is it really worth it?? Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil

well hello all , great to see this site up and running. only found it yesterday and hugely enjoyed flicking thru all the pages. as a brief intro i grew up in dunstable and discovered DK in 81 , then saw them maybe ten times before the split. aslo saw furyo and in excelsis in the next couple of years.

loads of superb memories from those times which i won't bore you with now (ha ha , such a tease) but sure their time will come. always saw the lack of any UKDK cd reissues as a crying shame given how much dross from that era has been exhumed. i figured abbo had blocked it as not fitting in with his current career (heather nova........hmmm). sounds like maybe that wasn't quite right. agree cherry red have put some good stuff out (ausgang , sudden sway , blue orchids spring to mind) so would be a logical choice. please get somebody to do the packaging right , the ausgang and blue orchids ones looked like some work experience kid had knocked up the covers on a scanner in 10 minutes.

i've got all the official releases. i just got out my box of old tapes and i've got 13 gigs on tape (when the band split i thought i'd grab all the ones i could for posterity. sad , huh). mostly not exactly hi-fi but i suspect as good as is available. if people seem interested and ask me nicely i might convert a few onto cd.

am i allowed to ask some 20-year old questions i never worked out?

did "unexpected guest" ever get released on 12"? anyone got one?

anyone got decent quality tapes of the peel sessions?

why don't furyo get mentioned on this site at all?

looking forward to some reminisces. all the best. paul

Welcome and Hi 'paulrabjohn'

Its good to see members of the 'Lost tribe' in here you must have loads of memories to share of the period!
See you got out of Luton in one peice! some of us are still here but with sadlly the 'odd marble or two' missing!
Anyway you asked a few questions:-

paulrabjohn wrote:

Firstly, although there was a planned 12" of 'Unexpected Guest', it never actually saw the light of day! however it, along with 'Dresden' were re-recorded for this purpose.....funnily enough we found these versions on a cassette on a 'trawl' the other day! but there are/were masters for them at 'southern studios'...we cant presentlly recall the reason it did not see the light of day, life was pretty hectic at the time!

'Peel Sessions' the answer to that one has got to be Yes but it is not known at present wether 'Strange Fruit records' or the 'BeeB' owns them but we now have a reasonable copy here in the house! thanks kindly to a Forum member!

'Furyo'... This site has only been online since officially april 15th 2004 and it really is still in the 'developement stage' there are plans for all the follow-up bands including 'Furyo', 'Slave drive' and 'In Excelsis' to be presented. All of which we could perhaps actually use a hand in filling in some of the missing details! All of these in due time will be accessed through the Biog ('Band Members') section on the main website! but please be patient on that one!

Hope that goes some way to answering your questions! ...could I
be allowed to ask you a tricky question!..'can you remember where and possiblly what dates you saw UK Decay? I know thats a tall question but you never know..you might know!.....

OK Paul look forward!! Arrow Twisted Evil
