I've just uploaded a new UK Decay video of 'Dorian' + 'Decadence' to Youtube; here: http://www.youtube.com/my_videos_edit?ns=1&video_id=41-GiLriCzs&next=%2Fmy_videos
This is taken from a bootleg DVD - from the look of it, these are rough cuts for a promo video for 'Madmen...' that was never finished. It looks at least semi-official, if only because one of the shots of Steve Harle (@ 2.00) was used as the 'Face' on the 'Sexual/ Twist in the Tale' 7", but I've never even heard a rumour of it existing before, so who knows.
The original tape is obviously damaged, and the soundtrack was in a similarly poor state. I replaced it with good versions from the LP, and synched them up as much as could taking into account the original tape had obviously been chewed up and / or stretched. It was only vaugely synched to the images anyway so I think it's OK.
The first and last few seconds from 'Dorian' were missing, so I stuck the 'For Madmen Only' cover in to fill up the gaps.
Hope you like it. |

Bootleg video
Nice one Nick!
We think this vid is part offcuts from UK DK supporting Killing Joke at
Friars Aylesbury, 1981. It was probably filmed by one Graham Bentley
from Northampton.
Previous to working with UK Decay, Graham had worked with Bauhaus
as lighting designer and had helped road manage them in their early
period.
Graham also videoed scores of seventies and early eighties punk and
alternative artists, including a number by UK Decay. He recorded the
infamous UK Decay show at the Luton Carnival in May 1981.
One wonders what has become of Graham and his videotape archive>?
Nick, the link above took me to my upload page for some reason,
So I think the below link should work!

Hi,
I think the bootleg must be some of his collection - it has what appears to be the whole of the Luton Carnival set, 4 tracks from Berlin with Lol on bass (including 2 version of 'Unexpected Guest'), plus two full sets (one of which has Lol on Bass, the other is with Eddie on Bass supporting Killing Joke).
They're all quite bad quality both sound and picture wise, but I will edit them and load to Youtube in the next few weeks.
Maybe someone will be able to identify the venues? |

the set with eddie on bass is at aylesbury friars supporting killing joke , july 81. i think the set with lol on bass is at dingwalls , something like feb/mar 81. i've got a copy of this , but as you say the quality is not great. the aylesbury one is really dark , which is a shame.
the thing that would be lovely to get hold of would be the dead kennedys support slot at the music machine , oct 80. "for my country" from this gig is the one on youtube , it got used in a US compilation video. but the whole gig was filmed (abbo told me he'd seen it all) , wonder who's got that under thier bed??? |

I have now posted Werewolf at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f35tt7lSVBg
Again, the quality is not great, and I tried to synch it up with the version of Werewolf from the CD, but I couldn't do it because of the glitches and stretching of the original video tape.
The source tape is worse quality than the other version I have seen on Youtube, but the quality of the post is higher. So you pays your money and makes your choice.
I haven't been able to play the version on the site to compare it with that one, is there a problem or is it just housekeeping stuff? |
