Steves Tree Still in Leaves in Mid November!

We took these shots of Steves Tree in Peoples Park, Luton
today on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month!
It is suprising to note that it has still got its leaves!, whilst most
of the other trees around have lost theirs.

There is a silver 'Happy Birthday' as well as a lighter hanging
from his tree.

There are other 'gifts' and ' Mementos ' garnishing his tree

Its really nice to see that tree, that special tree!

BTW Does anyone know what species of tree it actually is?

Apologies for the ‘slightly-out-of-focus’ feel,
Crying or Very sad Laughing

Steve's Tree in December 04, with Ian Lee

Ian Lee was in town over the weekend visiting friends, the 'Hatters',
Lutons splendid 'Urban Architecture' and 'Steve's Tree'.
After finding himself roped in the 'mele' of the UK Decay CD release
(folding the Inlays), Spon escorted him up to peoples park to visit an
'old friend'

Ian in communion with an 'old friend'

It was a bleak overcast day and winter is settling in, the sad looking
leaves are about to depart for their anuall winter hibernation. Most of the
nearby trees lost their leaves weeks ago.

Ian reflects!

We all have our own way of paying our respects to our lost friends,
most (rich) people have their own tombstones or graves, places where
they can be remmebered, where flowers and gifts can be layed,
where perhaps prayers or meditations can be had. But in the case of
Steve, like an increasing amount of people, planting a tree is infinitely
more appropriate., Giving a new life to a persons passing!
I cant help feeling its almost arrogant for those in an increasingly
overpopulated and concreted world, should seek to maintain land and
property after their own deaths.
"Long live Steve Harle-
Long live Steve's Tree"

After paying their respects Ian and Spon departed to view the
Splendid Urban Architecture of Lutons Suburbia before Ian made his
return to Birmingham.
(Ian got a pic of Spon by the tree btw, will ask Ian to forward it for
posting later...spon was behind the camera on the above pics)

Steve Harle 1960 -1995>>>> 10 years!

It is now March 9th 2005.
It has now been 10 years since Steve passed away.
We didn't hear the sad news for a few days, I guess thats not
suprising really. Considering his last lonely rail journey was far off, on
the other side of the world in India.
We were all expecting him back with lots of stories to tell, but instead
we got that shocking news.

"YOU WERE A GREAT FRIEND STEVE
AND WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED"

'One Love! my good friend and comrade!'

10 Years is a milestone when it comes to bereavement , we all on
average have only 7 such Decades to experience our mortality and our
love and friendships with our fellow Human beings.
So we should learn to make the most of our friends and loved ones.
We have only one chance!
Steve, we love you. You will always be remembered !

Steves Tree March 9th 2005

Tim an old friend of Steves visits the tree for the first
time. He has been living in Portugal for the last 16 years and
has recently returned to the UK.

Tim having a quiet word with his old mate

Tim, Captain and Charlie the dog (17 years old!) paying
their respects to Steve and the Tree and gazing accross the city

was still around.

Our humblest Apologies!
It was pointed out to us that we had an incorrect year
of birth for Steve!
He was in fact born in 1960 not 1961!

We have now corrected this on the website and posts
and scincerely apologise to all concerned!

Thanking you

Steve's Tree in August
Dateline: 17th August 2005

There is not an image of Steves tree taken at this time of the year
so here we are!
The Council have left the grassland around the tree to grow wild,
encouraging wild flowers, insect and bird life.

Steves Tree in all its glory!
