Coming across this site has reminded me of various nights out in old Luton Town. Does anyone remember 'club for heroes' (think that was its name), an attempt at a new romanticish club night held at the Pan Club (local gay club) in early 80s. Lots of Kraftwerk, Yello and robotic dancing. I think Mick Scarlett had something to do with it, gothy guy in wheelchair who later became a TV presenter. I used to see him out at techno clubs in London in the 1990s.
