does anybody know some new goth bands playing something similar to (at least influenced by) uk decay, in excelsis, ...? i find most new gothrock bands very awful, or if not awful, just playing music completely different to these early, chaotic-postpunk bands.
any names? i dont care how underground they are.
lots of thanks
and by the way, great page!!! _________________ lllllllllllllllllllllllll |

There is an excellent American band called Cinema Strange, who I would say werre a modern mix of UK Decay and Sex Gang Children. Their first album is excellent. They just about kicked off a whole new Batcave mania in Germany. You should all go and buy their stuff now.
There are also a load of modern Deathrock bands kicking about, many of them sounding more like Rozz Williams. Bands like Chants of Maldoror, Bloody Dead and Sexy or the Last Days of Jesus. Nowhere near as good as Cinema Strange though.
I also really liked Corpus Delicti, a French band who turned into a Ministry type then dissapeared. Their earlier stuff sounds quite influenced by a mixture of early goth and the Cure. They were excellent. |

thank you for your replies, but FUCK!!!!
i already know those bands; 'twilight' by corpus delicti is one of my favourite goth albums of all times, and cinema strange... well, they are AMAZING! i have both their albums and some bootlegs. and the way they look is amazing too. the other bands are ok but is true, they're too cristian death-esque for my taste.
but thanks any way! i hope someone else answers to this soon.
by the way, there is another great band from california (usa) called 'the vanishing' - _________________ lllllllllllllllllllllllll |

I would suggest the Czek "Last Days of Jesus"
Also, the London band Ghost of Lemora are really great, not really the UK Decay style but still very well worth checking out.
Have a look at the http://www.deathrock.co.uk site with links to a lot of bands. |

If you want to find about new Goth stuff I write reviews every week here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/mickmercer/
plus there's a free monthly mag to download here:
http://www.mickmercer.com/themick.html
Actually there's two issues up there at present, which will come down in a week or so to be replaced by two special December issues.
They're full of reviews and interviews. Naturally if bands do have comparisons that can accurately be made to put people in mind of any 80's Punk/Goth I make them so that it's helpful to readers of any generation. _________________ You may not like me now, but you smell. |

There is definitely some great stuff in both of the above! These are prime sources for new bands! |

Some of my fave 'goth' style bands are part of the new post punk wave
'the editors' and canada's 'the floor'
Goth wise, 'the guilty party' and 'black ice' as well
and not forgetting the reformed ausgang. |
