Yes, I was having a crap day at work yesterday, and um-ed and ah-ed if I should go and see Bauhaus that night, here in Birmingham. In the end, I thought, "why not ?"
Was I glad I did- bloody excellent ! I recall (deep breath) In the Flat Field, Terror Couple Kill Colonel, Hollow Hills, Kick in the Eye, Stigmata Martyr, The Passion of Lovers, Rose Garden Funeral of Sores, She's in Parties, Dark Entries- always my favourite- plus others, then a killer run of encores- Transmission (yes, the Joy Division song- with Pete Murphy dancing like Ian Curtis, interspliced with a brief snatch of their own St Vitus Dance), Telegram Sam, Ziggy Stardust -with the band going off before the final 'ZIGGY PLAYED GUITAR'- then coming back on, doing that bit, then going into... Bela Lugosi's Dead....with Murphy swishing his black cape, bat-like...
Murphy, Kevin Haskins, Daniel Ash and David Jay all looked the same as you remember them- albeit with Murphy not as thin as he used to be, and with a bald spot developing- hey, join the (evergrowing) club- as had Nick Cave, when I saw him ('solo' gig, albeit with three of The Bad Seeds) in Birmingham 3 days earlier.. Blimey- Birmingham must have been Goth Central this week.....
Two superb gigs... just a pity such events don't happen in UK Decays' home town of Luton- which I think suffers greatly from being too close to London.
BTW- don't you get pissed off with all the stupid, pathetic postings on this website, like adverts; links to gambling, selling, porn and other shit; and religious and political viewpoints full of hatred, bile and ignorance ? This is NOT the place for them- can I say politely to all those posting such stuff to 'go away' ? |

The above post regarding Bauhaus, etc, is mine- I had signed in, but had obviously inadvertedly signed out when I went elsewhere briefly then back to my posting....beware ! _________________ In a world of universal deceit, to tell the truth is a revolutionary act. Surely it is the way to progress- after all, if one tells the truth, one is sure, sooner or later, to be found out. |

As a fellow thinning on top type person, I share the pain...
I remember a few others from the one I saw (Dublin) - Burning From The Inside as an opener, a slightly ropey God In An Alcove, Murph Irish dancing through Kick In The Eye (!!!), some superb crowd interaction, and overall a wonderful joyful experience. Plus we got a red cape for Bela!!! |

I was a little aprehensive after seeing them back in 1998 for their original Resurrection tour, but I did enjoy their performance more this time around. (Brixton)
They seemed more relaxed, and although the sound was crap through most of it, I still enjoyed their perfomance.
I must say though, I'm really pissed off that they've pulled out of the Wireless Festival in June to open up for Nine Inch Nails in the USA. I wouldn't have minded, but the tickets via Stargreen are non-refundable, and the apology on the Bauhaus website doesn't quite cover the £36+ I've paid out! |
