I was there too....for the Statics, not my home town band Art Nouveau...I remember being backstage afterwards, 'handling' a microphone stand belonging to Art Nouveau. I was stopped by my own brother from taking it anywhere. And rightly so, of course. The Statics were an excellent band.
Barry Clarke, on behalf of South Beds District Council, was the person I had to persuade into allowing punk bands to play again in their halls.
In my case, at the Bossard Hall, Leighton Buzzard, under the guise of a private (21st birthday) party - I just made sure all the right people were there ! (As well as my parents and brother, my two grandmothers were present too- one was very amused by the punky style, the other horrified !) This was the first time UK Decay played Leighton Buzzard.
Barry Clarke put me on his personal guest list for a then forthcoming Motorhead gig (The Bomber Tour) at The Queeensway Hall, which I went to. Quite a few punky types were there, including David Barr. _________________ In a world of universal deceit, to tell the truth is a revolutionary act. i went to that one. As i did with lots of statics gigs. They were great and should have been what U2 became (though not as boring and up their own A** ! . Shame.
I thought Art Nouveau were good as it happens. With their high altitude pilots suits.
I went on a coach to see them at the embassy club in london, for the launch of 'too shy' as Kajagoogoo.
The embassy was owned owned by hayter caulters dad, i recall him asking why we didn't charge for entry at an early brickhill woods party. He went on to do just that and made shitloads from the rave scene. I didn't - yeah baby...x |

I met Eric a few years back in the street in Covent Garden... he was selling the Big Issue at the time, had a big grin and didn't know wtf I was! LOL!
Some of my best memories are of the various gigs at 33 Guilford St, we supported the Statics a couple of times and we later had the pleasure iof having Paul sing with us for a bit!
