UK Decay Communities Presents
"Class of 1979-1980 Reunion"
Thursday 22nd December 2005
At the Cork and Bull, Luton, UK.
Featuring
Large screen showing of
"UK Decay, Live at Luton
Carnival in 1982".
MOJAG
THEE DIRTY STOOGES
DEAD GIRL ON THE PAVEMENT
+ Special Guests To Be Announced
For all those that experienced the halcyon days
of the birth and heyday of the Luton Punk scene at the same
venue albeit different name as the original GRAPEVINE'
At least two ex-members of UK DK are expected to attend
although there is no danger of them reforming for this event,
the band playing a hybrid of Anarcho Punk with dark and gothic
textures were instrumental at the birth of the scene that later
became known as GOTH. The 'GRAPEVINE' was the meeting and
focal point for the Luton scene as acting as a venue, it was
noted for its sawdust and barrels.
Providing the nights entertainment will be one of Hertfordshires
top 'Post-Punk/ Gothic' bands 'MOJAG'.
"MOJAG's sounds bask between The Cure's Pornography and Hawkwind's
punk-era Levitation with the added advantage of a deepened early Cocteau's
vocal... This is a new brand of goth for the post-rock era. MOJAG combine
complex sounds and musicianship with energy and attitude... !
Opposition T, Aug 2004
From Leicester UK, 'THEE DIRTY STOOGES'
a blistering Iggy Pop tribute band.
"Iggy and the Stooges (kick ass) Tribute act, maybe the only act in the
UK playing this great bands music."
And from Luton, VBAH'S, 'DEAD GIRL ON THE PAVEMENT'
"DGOTP mix effect laden guitars with Trip-Hop style drum
loops. Think Joy Division; vs Portishead with a harder edge.
DGOP are quite simply incandescent with musical promise and intelligence"
Andrew Humbles (High Voltage).
'dR. jOHN 'CRAZY FISH' will be providing an 70/80's style
PUNK POST PUNK/NEW WAVE tribute set.
Also featuring DJ Nick Switch from the legendary 'Switch-Club'
who shall be spinning a selection of classic early Switch tunes and
further DJ's to be announced.
So if you were there at the GRAPEVINE in its day or maybe
a UK Decay fan that wants to meet up with some 'old faces'
Or perhaps just curious about the band and the scene this is
your opportunity for an entertaining and revealing night out!
All are welcome!
Just £3.50 adm. the numbers are limited to about 250 people
and it starts at 9pm Thur 22nd Dec 2005 the bands and
screening to be finished by 1.30am. After that its 'Party time'
till 4am!

Well sorry about that Nephilm Babe!
We did try finding a venue for the
Friday night then settled for a wednesday
before changing to a thursday..
"Your Damned if you do and Doomed if
you don't"
Sod's Law!
Not enough days in the week"!
At the end of the day this event is a
'One - Off' A chance for 3 Decades of
'Alternative Luton and Area Culture'
to once again meet-up!
Placing it close to the Xmas period is
for the simple reason that
more ex-Lutonians are more likely to
be in town to meet up with
their friends and famillys etc.
However this is also a chance for all
that are interested or just curious
about the old Luton scene or UK Decay
or want to have a dam good party!
We are apparently open till 4AM!
Big up to your regular Thursday Night
at the George 2nd tho!
Hopefully see you @ the C & B on the
22nd....will 'PM' you!
Cheers
W.W.
Because that is what we intend to do!

Jay and I will be there. I will try and see if I can get Mr Hall out too. I remember trips to Luton in the mini, belts and leather jackets. Well my belt nolonger goes round the waist and my chest means the leather had to go. Aging equates to fattening. Gosh so close to Xmas I might end up stuffed like a turkey. Oh what fun. Looking forward to seeing Spon and the Captain. _________________ A little naughtiness is the road to happiness.

So Mr T. along with the belts, were you in a mini, or wearing one ? I seem to have memories of both......J x. |

just bloody typical! If you'd have held it AFTER Xmas I could have travelled from the wilds of Midlesbrough...have to stick around as last Xmas I split up with my partner and our son did not have a very good one! Still split up but friends and are determined to make it a better one - Poo! Poo! |
