New UK Decay PRESS Page!!
Mon Oct 23, 2006 2:15 am
Take a look at our new Press page! Along with the steady redevelopment of the website, the 'Press' page-section has been upgraded. The original text transcribed archive remains as it was previously but the main 'Press' page has now opened up to include a 1000 word text background, detailing a brief chronological history of UK Decay's 'love-hate' relationship with the music press. Also included are links to some of the major scanned articles in the relevant galleries. The mainframe flash navigation has now disappeared from the old version, as this is unnecessary with the recent augmentation of the new navigation system. .....

Thanks to PRJ and the person who sent in these two new addition's to the 'FURYO' Gallery! They advertise a gig at "The Venue" on the 17th April, 1984 -(I think?) The first is the 'Venue's' version, advertising alongside dates headlined by Nina Hagen, The Meteors and Alien Sex Fiend. The second is the bands own version also advertising the forthcoming release of their 'debut mini LP! .....

New Gallery navigation System and website updates !
Fri Sep 22, 2006 12:56 am

This image which can be found on the left part of the main UK Decay webpages including the 'Home' page, is the new navigation panel. Simply wave your mouse over it and the usual navigation menu will appear. In addition to the main catagories, new sub-menu's will now show. Any problems or comments, please don't hesitate to give us a shout.
Tip!
Run the mouse gently up from the bottom upwards, the sub-menu's will be easier to deal with.

The previous 'flash nav panels' will gradually be phased out on the inner parts of the web pages. The previous system led to the same panel often being duplicated on the same page! This is part of an 'on-going' proccess to re-vamp and trim down the size hence download time of the UK Decay Communities website. The 'Left slide bar' frame, has also been re-vamped on most pages, with a host of 'affiliate links'. Try scrolling the bar down, there is a featured local links area which includes links to the new Click Click website alongside The Friction and The Jets. .....

Scot's Bobby
Sat Sep 02, 2006 7:03 pm
For those who may wonder whom the character depicted on the inside of the Split Single cover inlay, named as ‘Scots Bobby’ is, here is a little background albeit from hazy memories.
‘Scots Bobby’ real name Robert Caldwell, originally hailed from Greenock in Scotland. He and his band decided to move nearer to London in the mid 70’s, to seek ‘fame and fortune’. Ending up in Luton (of course!) being only a short drive to the city but a lot cheaper to live, quickly established themselves on the local circuit.....

The Stevie Band
Sun Aug 20, 2006.
Does anyone else remember 'The Stevie Band' the punk 'supergroup' that played at various UK Decay/Pneumania gigs in 1979?...
What we know about the Stevie Band or 'The Gang of Steve's'
The 'Stevie Band or 'The Gang of Steve's' as they were sometimes known, originally comprised of 2 members each from UK Decay and Pnuemania and yes they were all called Steve! That was Steve Harle (UK Decay) on drums, Steve the Voice (Pneumania) on Bass guitar, Steve Spon (at that time, Pnemania!) on guitar and of course Steve 'Abbo' (UK Decay) on vocals and guitar. There may have been other 'Steve's guesting from time to time but the aforementioned core played a series of gigs in Luton around the summer of 1979. Notably they played a couple of times at the 'King Richard 3rd' on London rd and the 'Sugar Loaf' in New town as for the town hall I can't remember but certainly probable!...

Marsh Farm festival
Wed May 31, 2006.
I happened to come accross the name Toad the Wet Sprocket the other day and it reminded me of the Marsh House Music Festival....
The first festival that comes to mind featured the Jets and the Nervous Surgeons. Both bands evolved into the Teevees and Click Click, although I can not recall the details of the metamorphis. Although my memory has faded I recall UK Decay and possibly Pneumania appearing at later versions and possibly the Acme Attractions and in true festival style at least one of these occassions was just an almighty mud bath......
On the subject of the Marsh House Farm festival by coincidence we have been sent a scan of a Luton news article relating to one of those memorable events.

Introduction
Introduction to UK Decay Communities
Sometime late 2003 sitting round a table in Luton, three people were discussing the idea of setting up an official UK Decay website.
There were lots of ‘ifs and buts’ as well as a general complete lack of ‘Web-design’ skills but the consensus was that it had to be done! The Domain ‘UKDecay.co.uk’ was available and immediately 'snapped up' and further searches on the Internet revealed thousands of links to various websites all over the globe.
One called ‘Deathrock presents UK decay’ based in California seemed to be the most prominent. But the three were horrified at some of the inaccuracies that were prevalent in some of the other sites including ‘obituaries to Martyn Segovia Smith’ that sadly passed away in 1980, which were blatantly untrue. Further searches revealed that many of UK Decays co-patriot bands such as Bauhaus, Theatre of Hate, Killing Joke, Joy Division etc. had all got their own fully integrated and updated websites. The time was right for a website that would act as official presence for the band.
